Overview of the 2024 International Mechanical Code Ch-11: Refrigeration
Chapter 11 provides for the protection of life and property from the potential fire and health hazards associated with refrigerant chemical and the machinery that contains such chemicals. Some refrigerants are toxic, some are flammable and some are both.
This chapter governs the design, installation, construction and repair of refrigeration systems that vaporize and liquefy a fluid during refrigerating cycle. Permanently installed refrigerant storage systems and other components shall be considered as part of the refrigeration system to which they are attached.
