Shannon Roberts is the Assistant Director of Trades at the codes department with the Metropolitan Nashville Government. He leads a team comprised of 60 individuals who carry out multiple functions daily which entail building, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical inspections for building safety and compliance, as well as fleet management of close to 100 vehicles. The trades division also is tasked with verifying the end of the permitting/inspection process to issue letters of occupancy for commercial and residential projects. Before joining the codes department in 2007, Shannon spent 15 years as commercial/residential service tech in the HVAC industry, during which time he certified and performed residential envelope testing and worked in the test and balance field where he was part of a team completing commissioning on commercial projects. He holds a diploma from Mt. Juliet High School as well as the Nashville State Area Vocational-technical School in HVAC and a diploma from the MM2 management course through the Metropolitan/Nashville Government. Outside of his government work Shannon likes fishing and kayaking with friends and family. Shannon has been married for 26 years and travels to see his three children living and starting their careers in engineering, IT, and a millwright.
